Dvorak Cello Concerto in B minor arr. Morton

Cello Sheku Kanneh-Mason

Piano Isata Kanneh-Mason

Conductor Jason Thornton

We've all been starved of the shared experience of live music these past six months, and we are very excited to let you know, that next month, we will bring you a live, socially-distanced performance to a live, socially distanced audience.

On Thursday 24th September we will be joined by Sheku and Isata Kanneh-Mason, two of the brightest stars on the classical music scene, as we return to The Forum for a Covid secure event that will bring the venue back to life. This concert will be the first live classical event in Bath since the lockdown and one of the first live orchestral concerts in the South West.

In a beautiful arrangement for strings and piano Isata Kanneh-Mason will perform Beethoven’s dramatic 3rd Piano Concerto - a heady mix of musical drama and lyrical romanticism. In the second half, classical superstar Sheku Kanneh-Mason will give one of his first performances of the Dvorak Cello Concerto. Infused with the sounds of nature and sunshine this Concerto is the perfect way to return to the concert hall.

Jason Thornton, Bath Philharmonia Music Director said “...we cannot wait to get back to live music making and we think this is the perfect way. The combination of Sheku, Isata and Bath Phil, all desperate to play again is a recipe for a sensational but relaxed night.
