Schools & Young People

Music in Action is expert in delivering projects in schools, enabling open-access music-making that can enrich existing delivery across the National Curriculum.

We work with schools and education providers in many contexts, either in tailor-made projects or one of our tried and tested formats. We differentiate our delivery dependent on the needs of each class we work with and have significant experience of working with children with special educational needs as well as gifted and talented musicians.

Some of our tried and tested formats include:

Create a Concerto

Over five days, Music in Action will work with a group of young people to create a concerto to be performed by a professional soloist who has performed with Bath Philharmonia. The young people will form their own orchestra and compose their own music. This will be performed within a local community context or at school.

Side by Side

Bath Philharmonia players will coach and play 'side by side' with your school orchestra in a programme that stimulates and challenges young instrumentalists.

Orchestral Rep Projects

Bring your entire class to hear Bath Philharmonia rehearse and then create their own compositions based upon the music that they have just heard and explored. An opportunity to explore some of the repertoire listed in the BBC Ten Pieces for KS2 or KS3.
